Explore how Beaver Street Fisheries Tracks High-Level Initiatives and Plans Efficiently for Upcoming Quarters

“BasicOps is a much easier tool for managing projects than Microsoft Project. It doesn’t have all the constraints you need to put into Microsoft Project to make a project work.”

Meet Beaver Street Fisheries, LLC:

  • Industry: Food and Beverage Manufacturing

  • Location: Jacksonville, Florida

  • Users: 50

  • Description: Global importer, exporter, manufacturer, and distributor of quality, fresh and frozen seafood and meat.

Located in Jacksonville, Florida, the Beaver Street Fisheries, LLC (BSF) team produces and exports a myriad of high-quality seafood products. While managing product inventory, BSF needs a project management tool that can help them track high-level stock overviews. Using BasicOps, they can seamlessly monitor their inventory and ensure they’re aptly supplied for the upcoming quarters.

“BasicOps gives us better visibility on top of our fast-moving, complex data sets,” says Scott Lane, Chief Information Officer.

With the BasicOps intuitive project breakdowns and handy project timelines, BSF can efficiently keep track of their essential operations and visualize their workloads.

How did they set up their workspace?

Prior to using BasicOps, the BSF team used Excel to create and track timelines. “We were doing gantt charts with timelines,” explains Scott. “Now, we use BasicOps as a tracking feature against our tasks.”

With BasicOps project templates, they can seamlessly set up projects and create task lists. For instance, BSF created a standard project template for their implementation tasks, such as creating a project timeline and setting up users. Based on the project’s complexity, they’ll add or subtract tasks from the template.

Currently, BSF is tracking 16 different products in BasicOps. “Some are just starting, and some will start next quarter,” says Scott. “In BasicOps, we can lay everything across the timeline.”

What does a project breakdown look like?

While tracking inventory, the BSF team uses BasicOps to monitor high-level initiatives and gain visibility. “We have a concept of an initiative called Demand Planning for Inventory, which is made up of three technology development projects. We use BasicOps to track the total initiative,” explains Scott.

Within that breakdown, they filter and display their inventory from different views. As a result, BSF can easily visualize current inventory levels and anticipate future product stock shortages.“ The investment in BasicOps is worthwhile,” says Scott. “We now can take our tasks and projects and roll them up in a way where we can access visibility across everything.”

What are their favorite BasicOps features?

  • Calendar View. For a company like BSF that needs to access a birds-eye overview of their projects, the BasicOps Calendar View helps them visualize their long-term initiatives. “We have a timeline that goes across all of our projects,” notes Scott. Using BasicOps, they can track project progress and pre-empt potential shortages, which ensures operations continue running smoothly.

  • Daily Preview Emails. Every morning, Daily Preview Emails update BSF employees about their upcoming assigned tasks, guaranteeing the team knows what projects and tasks to complete. “The emails notify us of what’s changed and what needs to go out,” explains Scott. With Daily Preview Emails, BSF can boost efficiency and stay ahead of any changing due dates.

  • Customer Service. Customer feedback and satisfaction is a key aspect of BasicOps operations. “BasicOps is always willing to listen and make enhancements based on feedback,” says Scott. The BasicOps team works tirelessly to continuously incorporate the latest, cutting-edge features and ensure client satisfaction. “Customer service comes first,” says Scott.

Overall, BasicOps ensures the BSF team can efficiently manage high-level initiatives, anticipate potential inventory hitches, and guarantee sufficient stock supply. Using the Calendar View and Daily Preview Emails, BSF employees can be confident they’ll stay ahead of deadlines and plan efficiently for upcoming quarters. With BasicOps adopting the latest technologies to boost ease of use, BSF can track their projects seamlessly. BasicOps is a crucial aspect of their workflows.

“BasicOps is an easy way to track at the level you want.”
